Holy Week Services & Celebration

Palm/Passion Sunday • March 29, 2026 • 10:00 am
Something new will be happening on this day in worship.
The service will begin with the exciting announcement of Jesus’ grand arrival in Jerusalem. Palms will be waved and great songs sung. However, we cannot stay in this happy time as the service moves toward the Passion of Christ. You will experience the heart wrenching story of Christ’s love for us through the Passion reading found in the Gospel of Matthew. We include a symbolic dramatization of the events of Holy Week throughout the reading to help you encounter the living Christ in this service. Come and see... join us for this emotional remembrance.

Good Friday Tenebrae Service • April 3, 2026 • 5:30 pm
The service of Tenebrae, meaning “darkness” or “shadows,” has been practiced by various parts of the church since medieval times. Once a service for the monastic community, Tenebrae later became an important part of the worship of the common folk during Holy Week. Tenebrae is a prolonged meditation on Christ’s suffering…Christ’s Passion. Readings trace the story of Christ’s passion, music enhances the emotions, and the power of silence and darkness suggests the drama of this momentous day. As lights are extinguished, we ponder the depth of Christ’s suffering and death; we remember the cataclysmic nature of his sacrifice as we hear the overwhelming sound of the “strepitous” (loud noise) and we anticipate the joy of ultimate victory come Easter morning.
